Reddy driving for Double R Racing before the sixth round was 12th in the championship with 59 points while Vaidyanathan driving for Joe Tandy Racing was 22nd in the main championship while ninth in the Rookie list.

The weekend began with the first practice session which was led by Carlin’s Colton Herta as Reddy ended sixth while Vaidyanathan was 15th.

The second practice session was again led by Herta as Reddy was 10th and Vaidyanathan 22nd who only did six laps. In the final session, Herta continued to lead with Reddy sixth.

Qualifying round-up

There was no stopping Herta as he claimed pole in the first qualifying session with a time of 1m50.398s with Lando Norris second and Daniel Ticktum (Fortec) third. Reddy finished ninth and was 1.479s off Herta while Vaidyanathan was 22nd.

For the final race of the weekend, the grid is decided by the second best timed lap in qualifying one which put Herta on pole with Norris and Ticktum second and third respectively.

Reddy was ninth again with a time of 1m52.053s while Vaidyanathan moved up a place to finish 21st for the final race.

"Qualifying didn't go according to the plan, my teammate did a better job and qualified ahead of me," said Reddy told to Motorsport.com.

Reddy misses podium finish; Vaidyanathan's torrid run

All of the good work done by Herta was undone after a spin in race one which pushed him out from the contention to win as Ticktum won the race from Norris and championship leader Ricky Collard (Arden).

Reddy got a good getaway at the start to move to seventh and was in a battle with teammate Matheus Leist for the better half of the race until the final lap where the Brazilian managed to go past the Indian.

Reddy, thus finished eighth after having a back and forth battle with Leist while Vaidyanathan had a quiet race to finish 19th.

"Race one wasn't bad, I was seventh till the last lap and then half of the last lap my gearbox stuck in fourth gear. It cost us a good result and Leist moved ahead of me," Reddy said, reflecting back on the first race.

After the spin yesterday, Herta made no mistakes on Sunday to win race two ahead of Ticktum and Sennan Fielding (JHR Developments).

Having started third, Reddy was in pursuit of Jack Barlow who was to be penalised for a jump start. On lap eight, Reddy spun due to "oil leak" on the track which pushed him down to finish fifth.

A second-place finish was lost due to the spin. Reddy was also reprimanded after a small contact with Barlow during the race re-start.

"I was battling very hard for second position. When I came at turn three, there was an oil leak on the track and I just went off," said Reddy.

"I dropped back to fifth. It cost me a guaranteed second position and a podium."

The safety car period was caused by Vaidyanathan who had an incident with Ollie Pidgley (Richardson Racing) on the third lap as the Indian retired from the race.

Herta made it a perfect Sunday as he won the final race of the weekend from his teammate, Norris, as Ticktum completed the podium.

Reddy started race three from ninth and by the end of the first lap, he moved up three places to sixth. He was then behind Peter Florescu for the whole race to finish sixth.

"Most of the guys in front were on new tyres, I was on old tyres and so it was good to finish sixth at the end," Reddy said after the race.

Vaidyanathan finished 18th in the third race and stated that he had a better car in the final race after having "oversteer" problems in the earlier races.

"Overall it was a good weekend, in terms of my championship, it was good points scoring weekend," Reddy stated reflecting on the weekend.

"But there is still more to come and hopefully I can start fighting for a podium," as he moved up to ninth in the championship with 79 points.

Vaidyanathan, on the other hand, had a tough weekend and said: "We faced a lot of problem in the car on Friday and so I missed a lot of track time."

"I was nervous during qualifying and so we were behind all weekend," as he sits 22nd in the main championship and ninth with 74 points in rookie list.
