INDIANAPOLIS, IND. (March 7, 2002) -- JDC Motorsports today announced its driver for the upcoming Formula Ford 2000 Zetec Championship.
Anthony Massari, of Miami, Fla., will contest the entire 13-round schedule with JDC Motorsports.
Massari joins the Zetec Championship having raced extensively since the age of 14. Racing karts, Massari won numerous races in the 100cc and 125 shifter classes. In 1997, he made his car-racing debut, competing in SCCA Club Racing with a BMW 2002. For three years, Massari raced sedans in both SCCA Club Racing and professional endurance events, such as the Speedvision Cup. In 2000, Massari switched his racing focus to open-wheel cars and began racing in Formula 2000. After finding success in SCCA National competition, he made his Zetec Championship debut at the 2001 season-finale in the American Continental Class. In addition to racing, Massari has been the track manager at the Racer's Country Club in Miami, Fla. for the past two years and has acted as the chief tuner for Birel Factory 125 shifter kart driver Kyle Wharff.
"I am very excited about racing in the Zetec Championship in 2002," said Massari. "I know the level of competition is really high in the series, but that's what makes it so good. Given the caliber of JDC Motorsports, I fully expect to have success this year."
The Indianapolis-based JDC Motorsports is owned and operated by John Church. The 2002 season will mark the second year the team has contested the Zetec Championship. Last year, the team ran a limited schedule with a rookie driver, scoring two top-10 finishes. Prior to joining the series, JDC Motorsports captured numerous SCCA wins, pole positions, lap records and divisional championships, as well as the prestigious Valvoline Runoffs National Championship in 1997.
The 2002 Formula Ford 2000 Zetec Championship commences March 14-15, 2002, with a doubleheader at Sebring International Raceway.
