INDIANAPOLIS, IND. (June 19, 2002) -- Roquin Motorsports today announced it has hired John Hayes to become the Engineering Director.

Roquin has brought in Hayes to act as the Engineering Director for both the Formula Ford 2000 Zetec Championship race team, as well as the newly formed Infiniti Pro Series race team.

Hayes joins the Indianapolis-based team having previously participated in the Zetec Championship from 1996 to 2000 and worked in the Indy Racing League. Working with Primus Racing, Hayes engineered three consecutive champions in the Zetec Championship. In 1997 he captured the championship with Zak Morioka. The following year, David Besnard dominated, winning the championship. In 1999, Hayes captured his third championship with current IRL driver Dan Wheldon. For the past two years, Hayes worked with former Zetec Championship race winner Robby McGehee at Cahill Racing in the IRL.

Roquin Motorsports continues contesting the 2002 Formula Ford 2000 Zetec Championship with Round Eight at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, June 29, as part of the American Le Mans at Mid-Ohio weekend. Roquin driver Luis Shiavo of Caracas, Venezuela, will be looking to post a great result, after scoring three top-10 finishes in seven races thus far in 2002. The team continues to search for a second driver to contest the remainder of the season..
