Open Telefonica searching for 2001 winner

Barcelona, 15th November.- Adrian Campos Motorsport, Doors Engineering and Venturini Racing have been the three first teams to start the Open Telefonica Preseason at Valencia¹s circuit in search of new talented drivers. The spanish team Adrian Campos Motorsport has ready its structure for the next year with the Spaniard driver Rafael Sarandeses and the italian driver Matteo Bobbi. Sarandeses 10th in the Final Standings will compete with the Nº 1, reserved to the winning team in the Series. Bobbi who was a newcomer this year in the Open Telefonica finished 11th. Both have moved from their previous teams Ericsson Challenge by GTEC, and Venturini Racing. Adrian Campos Motorsport team is a source of winners; in 1998 Marc Gene won the Open, in 1999 Fernando Alonso was his successor, and the current 2000 winner is Antonio Garcia who has also been competing in Adrian Campos Motorsport Team. Matteo Bobbi was the first in the test at Valencia with 1.27.04, whereas Rafael Sarandeses lapped 1.28.05. Juan Manuel Lopez, an Argentinian driver who was second in the italian F-3 in 1999, was testing at Valencia but his results were not as good. The Team manager Adrian Campos said ³Nowadays Rafael Sarandeses is the Spanish driver who has the best potencial² .

Doors and Venturini, also at Valencia GTEC at Albacete

Doors Engineering, one of the Italian teams in the Open has tested three drivers: Nicola Gianniverdi, who has participated in Eurokarting, lapped 1.29.02; Iban Delarosa, Italian Formula-3, was y second slowler than Gianniverdi, and Inea Casoni, a racing newcomer was not able to drive under 1.33.

On the other hand, Venturini Racing has tested with three new drivers from the Italian and French Renault Formula: Ronnie Quintarelli, current Series Leader in the Italian Formula Renault; Rafaele Giammaria, second classified in the Renault italian Championship, and the Swiss Irady Alexander, third in France. The latest is likely to be in the italian team for the next Open Telefonica 2001 season. Today and tomorrow, the french GTEC team is going to test at Albacete¹s track with Philippe Benoliel who made his debut in the Open this season in the round 5th at Albacete.
