Detroit, Mich. resident Jeff Morton will again return to the cockpit of a Barber Dodge Reynard for the fifth round of the Barber Dodge Pro Series on Belle Isle in Detroit on June 18. Morton will be racing to benefit the Metro Detroit Make-A-Wish Foundation in conjunction with The Vitamin Outlet.

The two-part fund raising effort will kick off with a night of fun, food and pool at Snookers Pool & Pub at 30295 Woodward in Royal Oak on Thursday, June 8 at 7:00 p.m. The event will feature a silent auction with items donated by the Skip Barber Racing School, the Detroit Red Wings and others.

The second part of the fund raising effort is a 'Pledge Per Lap Event' raising money for every lap that Morton completes of the 40-minute event, which could exceed 30-laps. Contributions begin at $20 per lap with a ten-lap minimum. Last year's event raised over $12,000 for the McCarty Cancer Foundation.

"We're very excited to be involved with Jeff Morton's racing team and happy to be raising money for Make-A-Wish," says David Farber of the Vitamin Outlet. "We're hoping to raise over $15,000 through both events. Jeff's car number is 16 in honor of former Red Wing Vladimir Konstantinov, which should make the event even more special."

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan grants the favorite wishes of Michigan children, between the ages of 2-1/2 and 17, suffering with life-threatening illnesses. They seek to provide emotional boosts to the Wish Children, and a reprieve from their day-to-day struggles with their medical battles. Over 2,200 wishes have been granted in Make-A-Wish of Michigan's history. Within the last twelve months, over 275 special children have had their dreams come true. Anyone who wishes to donate to the silent auction may call Mindy Cassidy at the Vitamin Outlet, 248/669-0300, extension 221.
