SBRS: Sperafico on provisional round 4 Lime Rcok pole

Qualifying is all about one lap. That couldn't be truer for qualifying race #2 in Round 4 of the Barber Dodge Pro Series held at Lime Rock Park. All of the provisional top-3 positions were established on the final circuit of the session. As the checkered flag flew Alexandre Sperafico snatched provisional pole from Dutchman Sepp Koster with a best time of 1:09.722 sec. The time may stand as rain threatens to dampen final qualifying scheduled for early this afternoon. Newcomer Davy Cook registered the second best time of 1:09.981 sec. and Christian Szymczak is set to start from third, having tripped a 1:10.070 best lap time. Koster, on the pole for Round 3 later today, is provisionally poised to start from fourth.

Sperafico is pleased with the provisional result but knows he'll have to defend his position later.

"It's great to be in that position [provisional pole] but I know we're going to have to fight again later to maintain it." said Sperafico. "The track was very slippery so it made our set-up critical and we were trying to get the most grip. Luckily on the last lap, it seemed we put together a good segment."

First year Pro Series driver Davy Cook was methodical in his approach to the session.

"It was obviously real wet and we were about 15-seconds off the pace. I saw a few cars go off and saw where the potential mistakes were. I got great feedback on the radio. We just worked together and tried to figure out the best line." He continued, "I didn't know how good I was in the rain with this car so the result is a real confidence builder."

Christian Szymczak also set his best time on the last lap and is encouraged by his improved performance.

"The track was really slick. I just had to be really careful out there, under braking and during exit. I was trying not to get a lot of wheel spin and just hold it together. It's a big improvement for me over yesterday and will definitely help with my confidence."

Final qualifying for race #2 is scheduled for this afternoon, 12:20PM EST.
