Scott Pye takes 2010 UK Formula Ford Championship

Australia's Scott Pye crowned British Formula Ford Champio

Celebrations are underway for Triple Eight Race Engineering's Scott Pye who has won the 2010 Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain following a dramatic season finale at Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit. Driving a Mygale for the Jamun Racing Team, Pye claimed the championship following a dominant victory on Saturday and a second place in Round 25 yesterday.

The talented South Australian, who is the first non-European winner of the coveted title since the turn of the millennium, took out the title with 581 points, 19 points ahead of Scott Malvern. With 12 race victories, 18 podiums in total and 16 pole positions, it has been an incredibly rewarding season for the 20-year-old driver from Mount Gambier. Pye was ecstatic upon the completion of yesterday's race and already has his sights set on the 2011 British F3 International Series.

"It's difficult to put into words - to win the championship is absolutely fantastic," Pye stated. "Our season started on such a high at Oulton Park with a win, and to finish on the podium here at Brands as champion is an amazing way to cap a brilliant year.

"Our main goal now is the British Formula 3 championship next year. I'd really like to try to follow in Daniel Ricciardo's footsteps I guess, and try to win that championship."

Triple Eight Race Engineering Australia Managing Director Roland Dane was thrilled with Pye's championship win and believes the future holds great things for the exceptional young driver.
