Foster, 23, has been identified by Porsche as the Carrera Cup Australia’s best candidate for the Shootout, which will take place over two days at the beginning of October.

He will be pitted against young drivers from all of the major Carrera Cup championships around the world, with the winner given a Porsche Junior contract and the majority of the funding needed to compete in the 2016 Porsche Supercup.

According to Foster, winning the Shootout would be a major step towards realising his dreams of competing in the World Endurance Championship.

“I’ve wanted to race in top level sportscar racing ever since I watched the Race of a Thousand Years in Adelaide,” he said.

“I’d seen nothing like it. That event was the reason I became involved in motorsport.

“The fact that Porsche is now in the World Endurance Championship in both LMP1 and GT racing, and drivers like Earl Bamber and Nick Tandy have moved up the Porsche Motorsport pyramid to where they are now, is hugely inspirational for me, especially with what they achieved at Le Mans in 2015.

“Sportscar racing at that level has always been my ambition ever since that New Year’s Eve in Adelaide and I’m thrilled to be climbing the Porsche Motorsport pyramid towards this goal.”
