CROFT MISERY FOR GEDDIE

Glynn Geddie suffered two disappointing races as the Porsche Carrera Cup GB reached the halfway point of its season at Croft, North Yorkshire this weekend. Having qualified for both races 5th on the grid, the youngster from Aberdeen - who turned only twenty years old on Thursday - finished in 8th and 14th places respectively.

In Race 1 Geddie made a solid start but got boxed in at the first corner, and battled with Jonas Gelzinis in the early stages of the race before producing a textbook manoeuvre on the Lithuanian at Tower Bend for P5.

However three laps into the race Geddie's Apex Tubulars-backed Porsche endured clutch pressure problems, snatching the gearbox on the downshifts and locking the rear wheels, meaning he was unable to chase Team Parker Racing team mate Euan Hankey for 4th position.

With the clutch problem getting worse throughout the race and the Aberdeen-born Geddie really struggling for grip under braking in the closing stages, he managed to salvage 8th place and gain two points for the championship.

Race 2 proved to be even more difficult for Geddie with the car still not right - despite the team doing everything they could in a short space of time to remedy the master cylinder in the clutch system - and he lost a place at the start.

On lap three a frustrated Geddie took a bit too much kerb at the chicane which launched him onto the grass and spun the car. Rejoining in P22, he managed to finish in 14th position, taking four cars in one lap along the way.

Glynn Geddie: "It's been a really frustrating weekend unfortunately. In qualifying we were up but I overcooked it on the second to last corner and we ended up in 5th for both races.

"It was pretty difficult dealing with such an inconsistent clutch in the races as it has essentially put us down from third to fifth in the championship.

"Now the season is halfway through and although it hasn't all gone our way so far, we have a six week break until Snetterton so we have no time to rest, and have an intensive testing program ahead to really turn our season around."

At the halfway point of last season Geddie was 4th in the championship after a shaky first ten races but he bounced back in the second half to dominate and win eight of the remaining races.
