SOLID DONINGTON DISPLAY FOR GEDDIE

Scottish racing driver Glynn Geddie came away with a 4th and 5th place in the penultimate meeting of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB season at Donington Park this weekend.

In Race 1 Geddie got off the line well from 4th place but picked up a flat spot on his tyres as he braked into the first corner. Managing to keep position he kept up a solid race pace as he battled with Michael Meadows, and then Team Parker Racing team mate Euan Hankey.

Apex Tubulars-backed Geddie was then freed when Meadows and Hankey made contact at Redgate on lap 8, sending the pair down the field.

Geddie got up to P3 but was struggling with understeer and ran wide at McLeans, allowing main championship rival and team mate Stephen Jelley through. Jelley managed to edge away as Geddie battled with Charlie Bateman for 4th, with Geddie eventually taking the position when the race was brought to a premature close after 20 laps.

Starting down in 7th on the grid for Race 2, Geddie quickly moved up into P6 for the opening stages of the race. Meanwhile 2nd and 3rd placed Jelley and Hankey respectively came together at the chicane, forcing Jelley, who finally managed 13th position, down the order.

Geddie was promoted up to 5th and hounded Meadows for 4th for the best part of the race. However as the chequered flag was dropped after the 23 laps Geddie had to settle for P5, but claimed an all important extra 12 points for his championship campaign.

Glynn Geddie:
"I'm slightly disappointed with how the weekend turned out. We didn't really get a chance to put in a decent second time in qualifying and it was really close at the sharp end, so that put us on the back foot for Race 2.

"In Race 1 I was struggling with understeer, then in Race 2 I was struggling with oversteer so it was really difficult to settle into a rhythm for either race. We were down 5mph on the speed traps but I knew I had to keep pushing to collect as many points as possible for the championship.

"Although it's been tough and we had our eyes on podiums this weekend, from a championship point of view it's a positive to have come away with more points than Stephen (Jelley), so if we can do that again at Brands, that will give us the third place in the championship that we need - but there's no time to rest."

Geddie now sits impatiently in 4th in the drivers' standings on 203 points, with just three points in it between himself and Jelley, as the Porsche Carrera Cup GB heads to Brands Hatch for the championship finale on 8th-10th October.
