Porsche Carrera Cup GB Brands Hatch Indy (rounds 19/20) and season round-up

Motorbase Performance triumph at Brands Hatch, winning the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Teams Championship with a dramatic last gasp effort while Ollie Jackson secured the Pro-Am1 title with a double race and category win. Not one to be outdone George Richardson delivered his second Pro-Am2 race win to cap an excellent weekend, although he was just edged out of the Pro-Am 2 overall title by a calculated Glenn McMenamin.

Although Caine lost out on the Drivers title, there is no doubt that his seven race wins were all important as he held aloft the Teams Championship trophy. Indeed were it not for the consistent points results of Charlie Bateman and Caine, who pulled in points for the Motorbase Performance squad at every opportunity then Tim Harvey's late race puncture with just four laps of the final race to go. It enabled the team to grab the deserved Teams title, which at the time looked very much out of the question.

Ollie Jackson must also be singled out, apart from his 100% finishing record in the last 40 rounds of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB the 25-year old Norfolk born driver came good, exceeding all expectations with his calm, mature and thoughtful approach. The Motorbase driver took no unnecessary risks as he went on to clinch his first Pro-Am 1 title after finishing 3rd in 2009.

Youngster George Richardson was another Motorbase Performance driver to leave Brands Hatch's Indy circuit in high spirits. Following two category wins on the day he was pipped at the post by McMenamin, but in his first full season in the championship he has regularly beaten far older and more experienced drivers and he'll be back next year aiming to clinch the elusive top spot.

It was also great to see Londoner Steve Parish back on the scoring board and running so close to McMenamin after his serious accident at Oulton Park just four weekends into the season. He'll be back again next year and fighting hard for his first Pro-Am2 title.

We must also mention Hertfordshire based driver Liam Griffin. In his first season in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Liam scored points at several rounds. He's had an interesting year with plenty of ups and downs and he's certainly seen what a steep learning curve there is in one of toughest championships in Britain. A well loved team member and a great guy to have in the paddock, Liam will he'll be welcomed back and fighting hard to win a maiden title next year.

On reflection securing the Teams Championship, the Pro-Am1 top spot (Jackson) and second place finishes in both Pro-Am1 (Caine) and Pro-Am 2 (Richardson) categories, Motorbase performance can be proud of their achievements. Next year we'll be back, fighting for the Drivers title and doing our very best to clinch the ones that got away, but over the harsh winter there will be a pair of very shiny new trophies adorning the Kent workshop, and they're well deserved after all the teams hard work.

Motorbase Performance and Porsche Carrera Cup GB driver Michael Caine said:
"I'm disappointed not to win the overall Drivers Championship, I felt we certainly had the car to do it over the second half of the season, but the Teams Championship has been a great result for us all. We now have the recognition of being the best Porsche outfit in 2010 and it's been an honour to wear the Motorbase Performance badge on my race suit. It's a great time to be a part of this team and it's well known what a great job they do so my thanks go to David and Barbra (Bartrum). This year we really made a championship of it; we stopped Harvey running away and were right in there from day one. Next year we'll be even better."

Motorbase Performance and Porsche Carrera Cup GB driver Michael Caine said:
"What a finish to the season, to win my category by such a margin and finish fourth in the overall standings means everything. I'd like to thank all the staff and my coach Michael Caine for giving me the tools and lessons I needed to do my job. I'm very proud to be a member of the Teams Championship winners and I'll be back to do it all again next year"

Motorbase Performance and Porsche Carrera Cup GB Team Principle David Bartrum said:
"A fantastic end to a fantastic year. It's been great for the team and all the guys behind the scenes. Tim (Tim Hull: Chief Mechanic) and his crew worked so hard at the workshop and at the track and with a 100% finishing record on the mechanical side they couldn't have done better. A huge well done to all the team, the Teams Championship means a lot to us all."
