Schroeder's Team Qualifies Fifth in Class for Saturday's Petit Le Mans
BRASELTON, Ga., Oct. 9 - The team that Jeret Schroeder is driving for this weekend in the Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta qualified fifth in the World Sports Car class and 11th overall out of 31 competitors Friday for Saturday's Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta.
Intersport Racing's Jon Field of Dublin, Ohio was behind the wheel of the Banana Joe's/American Fidelity & Liberty Insurance Riley & Scott Mk III No. 28 in qualifying Friday. In addition to Field and Schroeder, of Vineland, N.J., the car will be driven in the 10-hour/1,000-mile enduro by Joaquin DeSoto of Miami and John Mirro of Bath, Pa.
Field qualified at an average speed of 119.43 mph around the 12-turn, 2.54-mile road course.
Allan McNish of Dumfries, Scotland, put a Porsche 911 GT1 car on the pole. His co-drivers are Yannick Dalmas of France and Uwe Alzen of Germany.
The race is scheduled to begin at 11:07 a.m. on Saturday. It will go for 1,000 miles or 10 hours, whichever comes first.
Both the start and the finish of the race are scheduled to be broadcast live on the Speedvision network on Saturday. The first broadcast is slated for 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., and the second from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The Fox Sports network also plans to show highlights of the event from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
