SPEED NOTES! MASSARI-MULLER RACING

26 August, 1997

One in the South, One in the West . . . On to the North! Massari-Muller Racing Looks for Third Win!

Clearwater, FL. It started in the south . . . Massari-Muller Racing claimed its first SPEEDVISION Cup victory at a rain soaked Road Atlanta, racing a Ford Mustang Cobra R. Two races and 3000 miles away, they repeated the feat, this time campaigning a newly acquired BMW M3 Lightweight at Sears Point Raceway. This coming Labor Day weekend, the Cast-Crete/Lazzara Yachts BMW M3s will make the trek to the Great White North, heading for Bowmanville, Ontario's Mosport Park, hoping to continue their winning ways in the Grand Sports division of the SPEEDVISION Cup for Stock SportsCars. "We're working day and night to prepare the cars," stated Crew Chief Jim Bell. "After Sears Point, we had to send our motor to Tom Milner's Prototype Technology Group in Winchester, VA to have it rebuilt. We got it back just in time to pop it in and head out to Canada." "The team is working really hard to keep the momentum going," stated team co-owner Domenic Massari. "We've picked up three new sponsors, Syntec Concepts, Longrider Lubricants and Speedway International Racing Bistro & Bar, and we'd like to perform well for them." "I spent three days at the Powell Racing School at Mosport to prepare for this event," stated co-driver Scooter Gabel. "This being my first time at Mosport, I wanted to be able to hold up my end of the deal, and I'm very confident that we'll do well."

"Mosport is a tough track, both physically and mentally," stated co-driver Terry Borcheller. "We've got to first finish to finish first there." The team has received many inquiries about 1998, and recently went testing at Sebring with Team Green Academy finalist Andy Lally, who is currently running in the USAC/SCCA FF2000 Pro Series, as well as with longtime series campaigner, Jet Hawthorne. Other notable names being associated with Massari-Muller Racing for the remainder of 1997, as well as for 1998, include Dieter Quester, Jr., Javier Quiros, Darren Law and Geoff Auberlen, brother of Bill Auberlen. "We want to offer at least four rental cars for 1998," stated co-owner Brad Muller. "All the cars will be built to the same specifications as the #54 and #45 team cars, and we will provide the same professionalism across the board." The Cast-Crete/Lazzara Yachts BMW M3s #54, #45 & #63 are campaigned by Clearwater, Florida-based Massari-Muller Racing, owned by prominent Tampa Bay attorney, Domenic Massari, and Sarasota-based investor, Brad Muller. The team's Clearwater, FL, shop which specializes in race and street prep/setup, also includes a DynoJet Chassis Dynamometer, and a retail showroom, featuring the best in motoring accessories.
