Montreal - The Canadian ALDO Rally-Raid Racing Team is gearing up for a new challenge in 2016. Principles of the team have entered their Toyota Tacoma rally truck in the 2016 Silk Way Rally scheduled to run July 8-24. This year's off-road event returns to a transcontinental concept that will take competitors through back roads from Moscow to Beijing. Extreme road conditions await Canadian driver David Bensadoun and his teammate Patrick Beaulé during the 10,000-kilometre trek. Points will be scored throughout the nearly 5,000-kilometres Special Stages.

The sixth edition of the Silk Way Rally will start from Red Square in Moscow on July 8 and teams will be greeted in the Chinese capital at the conclusion of the 15-stage rally. The official day of rest for all teams is scheduled for July 16 in a still to be determined location in Kazakhstan. The ALDO Toyota Tacoma will compete for top honours against private entries in the car class.

Skiping the 2016 Dakar Rally

After four consecutive appearance at the Dakar for Montrealers Bensadoun and Beaulé, running either as a team or solo, ALDO Racing will skip the 2016 Dakar Rally.

"It's going to be a strange feeling to follow the Dakar from home instead of being right in the middle of the action," said Patrick Beaulé. "But, I don't think any of the team members will mind since this will be the first Christmas at home with family in five years. We are leaving a lot of local supporters in South America, but hopefully they will follow us on social media. Now we are going to Russia and Asia to make new friends. The Dakar is an exciting rally, but the Silk Way will be a totally new experience where we are going to race on unfamiliar terrain on a different continent."
