The series evaluated the 17-inch Hankook Ventus rally tyre at its official test day earlier this year, which has now led to a control supplier deal.

The tyre will be used across all three Extreme Rallycross Series class – Supercar Lite, Four-wheel-drive Turbo, and Two-wheel-drive Naturally Aspirated.

“This is the kind of spectacle Australian motorsport needs,” said Hankook Tyre Australia’s motorsport manager Dean Evans.

“Rallycross is undoubtedly the next big thing in global motorsport, and now that we have an Australian version, Hankook wanted to be a part of it from the start – and we had the right tyre to support it.

“Hankook Australia worked closely with Extreme Rallycross to determine what they were trying to achieve, in regards to grip and ‘the show’.

“With feedback from Alister McRae and Chris Atkinson during the test day in May, Hankook chose a size, pattern and compound of tyre that offered the best balance between grip, cost and durability, and assuring a safe and reliable tyre for the Extreme Rallycross championship.”

The brand new series will kick off it’s inaugural seven-round season at Lakeside in Queensland at the beginning of September. McRae is currently the only driver to have officially signed on for the headline Supercar Lite class.
