Up and coming rally driver Mark Fisher (27) was killed this past Sunday in a helicopter crash. His sister Emma also died in the crash. The helicopter was piloted by Fisher's father, legendary rally driver, Bertie Fisher.
Bertie and his wife are listed as critical condition in Royal Belfast Victoria Hospital, along with his son Roy listed in stable condition. The party were returning from celebrating his wife's fiftieth birthday in the Irish Republic when the helicopter crashed in woodland, five miles from Enniskillen, County Fermanagh on Sunday afternoon. There will be a full investigation of the crash site and incident.
Mark Fisher was carving his way up in the rally world and had become a regular on the British rally scene. In 2000, he had moved into the World Rally Championship with a limited program of rallies for Peugeot's full WRC squad.
Speaking to BBC Northern Ireland, Bertie's former co-driver Austin Frazer said: "Everybody is just devastated at the news. It is such a sad time for the Fisher family, their relatives and the many, many friends they have."
