Punctures haunt Horsey on home return

Kenyan born Peter Horsey struggled with a pair of time consuming punctures on his return to the Kenyan National Rally Championship but ultimately fought back to finish the KCB S&L Mortgages Rally fifth overall. 27 year old Peter was co-driven by Dez Page Morris in his Civicon backed Mitsubishi Evo 9.

Peter, the son of David Horsey, the 1984 African Rally Champion, was aiming for a strong run on the Kajiado based rally but when he picked up a puncture in the longest test of the event he was forced to stop and change the offending item. Then, during his fight back, Peter picked up a second flat tyre and drove the final ten kilometres of the stage on the damaged rubber, dropping more time to the leaders.

The result today is a bit disappointing as I feel that a podium was a realistic target. When we had a clean stage our times were good but those two punctures messed things up for me. It was nice to be back home for a rally but now I have a mad dash for the airport as I'm competing in the UK next weekend.

Peter will contest the final round of the MSA British Rally Championship on Saturday 25 October at the wheel of his Civicon supported Mitsubishi Evo X. Young Welshman Chris Davies will call the notes for Peter on this, the Trackrod International Rally of Yorkshire, as regular co-driver Calvin Cooledge is unavailable due to work commitments. Cooledge will be reunited with Horsey a week later when the pair tackle WRC Rallye de France.
