The deal runs through for three years starting from 2017 until the 2019 season, where MRF will be the sole supplier to the competitors.

The teams will be provided with the controlled MRF Motorsport compounds through Mentor Tyres, who are the exclusive importer of the MRF range in Australia and New Zealand.

Vivek Ponnusamy, CEO of Mentor Tyres, said: “MRF Tyres has a strong passion in motor sport and cannot wait in becoming a part of the Australian Rally Championship for the next three years.

"We have the enthusiasm and commitment to support all forms of motorsport in Australia right from club level to National/International level and we are here for long term.

"We have great reputation in all forms of motor sport, where our championship-winning tyres are used in rallying, open-wheel racing, motocross and international-level karting."

The controlled tyres supplied by MRF is already in use in the Asia-Pacific Rally Championship, where the team has eight title wins to its name.

This is the second championship in the region where MRF will provide its tyres, as last year the manufacturer signed a sponsorship deal with Queensland Rally Championship for the 2016 and 2017 seasons.

Recently, MRF's MD Arun Mammen, talked about the company's European expansion at the Autosport Show, where it was also revealed that they will supply its tyres to the Honda Civic Cup in the UK.

The new season of ARC kick starts on March 17-19 with the Eureka Rally and will see a total of six rounds, ending on November 16-19 with the Kennards Hire Rally.
