Symtech Racing full of hope before the Karkonoski Rally

The Subaru Poland Rally Team is preparing to tackle the third round of the Polish Rally Championship this weekend, the Karkonoski Rally. This asphalt event will take place from July 10-12 around the picturesque village of Jelenia Gora, to the west of Poland near the Czech border.

After an accident on the second round of the season, the Lotos Rally, the Subaru Impreza STR09 of Symtech Racing – the Belgian team that runs Subaru Poland's factory programme – has been completely re-prepared for the Karkonoski Rally.

As is the case before every rally, the team completed a test at the start of the week with Subaru Poland factory driver Kajetan Kajetanowicz in order to be as best prepared as possible for the forthcoming event.

This second asphalt round of the season marks a return to Kajetanowitz's favoured surface. "I obviously feel a lot more comfortable on asphalt than I do on gravel", he explained. "This is mainly down to the fact that I have much more experience on sealed surfaces. The Lotos Rally that we did a few weeks ago was maybe only my fifth gravel rally, which explains why I was having to get my bearings all the time. Nonetheless, we managed to limit the damage by finishing fifth overall. On the Karkonoski Rally, our ambitions are somewhat higher."

The Subaru driver knows that he can do better, particularly since the first round of the season, the Elmot Rally, which resulted in an overall victory! A repeat performance will be a formidable task, but the team will be doing everything to achieve the best result possible.

The Symtech Racing Subaru Impreza STR09 is now back on top form. The team's Wim De Boeck commented: "Our car has been completely re-prepared following the damage it sustained on the Lotos Rally. We've also carried out a few modifications to make it even more competitive. Our objective is always to remain as quick as possible and that requires constant work and attention to all the latest technical details. The most recent evolutions have been tested by Kajetan earlier this week and now we will use them on the rally. We can't wait to get going!"

The Karkonoski Rally gets underway on Friday 10 July at 20:00 with a start ceremony. The serious action begins on Saturday 11 July with six stages comprising 77 competitive kilometres. Four stages of 96 kilometres are on the menu for Sunday 12 July, with the finish taking place at 16:25.
