Local Drivers To Compete In The 25 Hour Of Thunderhill, The World's Longest Motor Racing Event, In A One Of A Kind Ford GT Xtreme

NOVATO, CA - November 30, 2010 - Genoa Racing and Team Copa announced their plans to enter the grueling 25 Hour Of Thunderhill Race on December 4th and 5th in Willows, CA. The Red Line Oil, Copa Cachaca, Hyperfocus Motorsports and Muscle Milk supported Ford GT Xtreme was specifically developed for endurance racing, and will debut in this special event next weekend.

Genoa Racing worked tirelessly to produce the most advanced Ford GT in existence. This 700 horsepower, 5.4 liter V8 supercharged machine is sure to be a strong contender to take the checkered flag in the top class at the 25 Hour Race.

"This Ford GT build started in March of this year and has been an enormous undertaking. We are excited to put on a great show for team owner, Steve Tarpley." said Ed Nelson, Team Manager at Genoa Racing.

"Each year, only a fraction of cars actually finish The 25 Hour Race. We fully expect the Ford GT Xtreme to be one of those cars."

The group of five Northern California competitors consists of three professional drivers; racing veteran, Dave Smith, Swedish road racing sensation, Marten Hansen, upcoming Drifter, Jared Thompson, and two promising amateur talents, Jason Montgomery and car owner, Steve Tarpley.

"My love of the Ford GT and the respect for the company that built such an iconic car, coupled with the legacy of the original Ford GT40 and its race heritage motivated me to have a car that could compete in the longest road race in North America," said Tarpley.

"We want fans of this American super car to get behind the manufacturer's passion for bringing this car back," notes Hyperfocus Motorsports founder and coach of Copa's 25 Hour team, Smith. "40 years ago, the Ford GT40 won multiple times at Le Mans. We want to show the GT can still be a proven endurance race car today."
