Caddell Grows Championship Lead With Mosport Pole

Bowmanville, Ontario (14 June 2008) -- Andrew Caddell of Graham, Washington, wasted no time in qualifying at Mosport International Raceway for Sunday's Ford Racing Mustang Challenge for the Miller Cup, ripping off his fastest flyer of the weekend on the first hot lap of the session to qualify on pole with a fast lap time of 01:32.334-seconds. Pratt Cole of Salt Lake City will start alongside Caddell as he looks to back up his Road Atlanta podium appearance with another strong run in round two of the 2008 Mustang Challenge season.

The pole position will not only give Caddell, who has led every practice session thus far through the Mosport race weekend, a good spot for the start, but it will also grow his championship points lead with the five bonus points awarded to each round's pole winner.

"The car was great with the new BFGoodrich Tires on it and we had plenty of grip," said Caddell. "We are still fighting a bit of a push, but we got everything we could out of it in qualifying, and I'm really happy with the car we have looking ahead to tomorrow's race."

The Mustang Challenge event is part of the traditional Mosport International Fathers Day Doubleheader weekend, and Caddell is hoping to make it a special one as his father is on hand once again for the race weekend as a very interested observer.

"My dad has only missed two of my races all my life, so it would be great to win one for him tomorrow with him here. It is also his birthday today, so that would be a pretty good Fathers Day weekend if I can come home with another win for him. But the field got even closer today, so we will see how it plays out tomorrow. I think we are going to put a good show on for these Canadian fans."

Pratt Cole will start alongside Caddell, and the two have plenty of racing experience together stretching back to their days in MX-5 competition.

"When I raced here at Mosport in the MX-5s, I have to admit that I didn't love the place, but I think having some time under my belt since coming here last, the track is a little bit less intimidating," said Cole, who grew his points collection by four with the front row qualifying spot. "Andrew and I have raced a lot and we trust each other. Neither one of us is going to risk anything at the start, and I hope I have something for him tomorrow because he's the guy to beat, no question."

The half-hour session ran without interruption as the twenty car field was set for Sunday's 11:45 AM race start. Race day will open with a 8:45 AM warm-up in advance of the 45-minute race event.
