At Magny Cours, De Megni Did His Best During The Qualifications.

Since the beginning of his debut in the Maserati Trophy, Andrea De Megni has never been so up high on the grid. In Magny Cours, the Pakelo Racing VIP driver Andrea De Megni was able to conquer the fifth place on the starting grid after a series of fast laps. It's a pity that the driver from Verona wasn't able to keep up the same rhythm during the race. Andrea went off track a few times. De Megni saw the chequered flag in 11th place and even if this may not seem like a positive result, this result proves De Megni's consistency in cutting that finish line.

There were a lot of important guests in Magny Cours. A few ex- Formula one drivers were present: Philippe Alliot, Rene Arnoux & Jean Pierre Jabouille. Famous French journalists such as Thierry Soave, Yvan Lebon & Yves Bey-Rozet were there as well. Andrea's qualifications are even more remarkable if you consider that he was ahead of both Philippe Alliot and Rene Arnoux! The next and last round of the season will be the most important one: the Ferrari-Maserati finale is scheduled on October 31st in Monza.

Andrea De Megni

"I'm partially satisfied with the race in Magny Cours. In fact I wasn't able to repeat my good performance during the race. Saturday's free practice session was rather complicated. We went on track with slick tyres but were then forced to make a pit stop to change them. With the rain tyres on, I immediately picked up a good pace and learnt how to deal with the car's behaviour under these conditions. Then during qualifying session, I went on track with new wet condition tyres on but the track was drying up and so those tyres were no longer useful. I put on slick tyres, gave my 100% and managed to do a series of fast laps.

The 5th place on the grid is my best ever result and to be ahead of great Formula One drivers from past like Philippe Alliot & Rene Arnoux brings me a lot of joy. Instead during the race, I wasn't able to get the most out of what I earned in the qualifying session. I started off well and after the first few laps, I overtook Notter who was in 3rd place but then I made a little error and went straight off track. This of course caused me to slow down. My adversaries took advantage of this and overtook me. At this point it was difficult for me to gain some positions. I had to be content with cutting that finish line instead of jeopardizing my race. The most prestigious event is coming up next in Monza: the Ferrari-Maserati finale. I hope to do just as well during the qualifications and to improve during the race."
