Caddell on Ford Racing Mustang Challenge Pole at Miller Motorsports Park

TOOELE,UT--19 September 09--Andrew Caddell moved one step closer to wrapping up the 2009 Ford Racing Mustang Challenge Championship on Saturday morning as he scored five championship points for locking up the pole position in qualifying at Miller Motorsports Park.

Caddell's fast lap time of 3:12.944-seconds will see him take the green flag alongside his only remaining championship combatant as Ted Anthony Jr. once again scored a spot on the front row.

Dan Aweida will look to use his third place starting position on the grid to lock up third in the overall championship, although he'll have his closest championship pursuer, Jason von Kluge starting right next to him in the second row. Ben Crosland showed his appreciation for running on his home track as he secured his career best Mustang Challenge qualifying position with his run to fifth in the Interbank FX/Speedworks R&D machine.

Zach Lutz will start from sixth, with Mike McGovern starting seventh in the Jim Click Racing Mustang. Pratt Cole will look to put his local knowledge to use in the race as he starts from eighth, with D Rick Edwards starting from ninth as Brad Adams rounded out the top ten on the grid on the 26- car field.

"That was the best lap of the weekend!" said Caddell. "The car was good in practice, and then we made some changes and it got even better. I had another quick lap going that could have been quicker, but after I heard Ted's lap time, I just brought the car into the pits and saved it for later. So I'm happy with how things have started today, hopefully we can convert it into a win."

Anthony Jr., wasn't as happy with his car after the set-up didn't yield the results he was looking for.

"We put some new tires on the car for qualifying, and it just didn't work with the set up the way we expected it was going to do--we ended up with a lot of push so I just wasn't able to do any better than a 14," said Anthony Jr. "But the TC Motorsports guys will have it sorted for the race I'm sure. Congrats to Andrew--that is a great lap and he deserves the pole. Hopefully I can change the order this afternoon and close out the year on top!"

"I'll admit, it didn't feel like it was that fast of a lap because I was hoping to get into the 14's, but that was as much as we could do," said Aweida. "We had a suspension piece that wasn't as locked down as it should have been so I was getting a big vibration at speed, so I set a couple of times and then came in to have them check it out. It was still my fastest lap of the weekend, so it's great to do that in qualifying!"

The racers will have just moments to prepare for the race, which is slated for a 1:30 PM local green flag time. The BFGoodrich "Ride of Your Lifetime" winner, Linda Wilson, will be doing the honors as part of her prize package.

The field will take the green flag after getting up to speed behind the Hurst Pace Car, which has arrived at the track just in time for the race meeting.
