Sonoma, CA March 26, 2000 - Team Denver's Bob Schader took his first victory of the season at Sears Point Raceway in the second round of the American City Racing League's Western Division series. Schader took the lead on lap six, and was never headed. Polesitter Peter Zarcades of Team Las Vegas led the first five laps under pressure from Schader until he missed a shift, damaging his engine and putting an end to his day. Zarcades was quick all weekend with new bodywork on his Swift DB-5, setting a new ACRL qualifying record at 1:34.81. Outside polesitter Fiorenzo Tirinnanzi of Team Hollywood spun back to sixth place on lap three, but charged back to second at the checker. 1999 Sears Point winner Brad Pierce took third place for Team Las Vegas. The top three finishers were all aboard Carbir chassis. Sandra Popescu of Team San Diego was fourth in SS2 in a Swift, and Rick Lee finished fifth in SS2 in his Team Denver Carbir.

1999 Sports 2000 Rookie of the Year and Rising Star recipient Michael Scully of Las Vegas led the S2 contingent, qualifying his SR71 on the pole and taking the class win in fourth place overall. Team Salinas's David Ferguson took second in S2, seventh overall aboard his Swift. Joe Moran of Team Hollywood and Denver's Jeff Littrell staged a stirring battle, with Littrell's Swift in front from lap three to lap 10, then Moran's Carbir making the pass and holding position until Littrell retired with mechanical woes on lap 15.

Mel Hawkins of Team Portland took the S1600 win, beating out teammate Steve Knight. Mechanical gremlins sidelined Team Salinas driver David Jansen, who sheared his Lola's hub drive pins and retired on lap 16, and Marvin Jones of Denver, who broke a half-shaft on his Carbir after only one race lap.

The team points battle was very close, with only 5 points separating the top three teams at Sears Point: Denver 231, Hollywood 227, and Las Vegas 226

The American City Racing League will race next on April 22 in conjunction with the Grand Am event at Phoenix International Raceway. The ACRL series, using a unique team racing concept, races Cosworth-powered Super Sports 2000, Aerocell-sponsored Sports 2000, and Toyota-powered Sports 1600 cars, with drivers required to run Hoosier ACRL-stamped R-45 compound tires and Union 76 Racing Fuel.
