Club Racing contingency 2011 programs announced

Club Racing Contingency Programs for 2011 Now Posted

TOPEKA, Kan. (Dec. 22, 2010) -- With the new year approaching, SCCA Club Racers can now register for contingency programs for the 2011 season.

Five auto manufacturers -- Volkswagen of America, Mazda North American Operations, Toyota/TRD, Honda Performance Development and Nissan North America have committed to contingency programs in 2011. Volkswagen will make payments to top-three finishers in selected National classes, paying as much as $750 for a win. Additionally, Volkswagen is offering up to $150 for a Regional race win in five classes. Mazda will make payouts to eligible drivers who finish in the top three at a National Club race, with prize money increasing significantly for a podium finish at the June Sprints and bonus money available for a Divisional Championship. Toyota will reward either $800 or $400 for a National race win, depending on class. Honda offers $200 for a National win, $100 for a runner-up finish and $50 for third place, and sweetens the pot for Regional racers attending the American Road Race of Champions (ARRC) at Road Atlanta with $500, $300 and $150 prizes for IT category racers on the podium. Details on the Nissan program are still being finalized and will be posted as soon as they are available.

Toyo, Goodyear and Hoosier are the tire companies posting National race contingency programs in 2011. As the spec tire for the Spec Miata class, Toyo will pay prize money to the top ten finishers at every National race and bonus money to those same placing drivers at each event that is considered a leg of the Club Racing Super Sweep. Goodyear and Hoosier will reward race winners in all eligible classes with two free tires, while Hoosier will chip in a single tire for runner-up finishes.

TreadZone.com returns in 2011 with a program designed to help racers purchase tires and wheels for less. Posting in all National and Regional classes, TreadZone has developed a reward system by which drivers can accumulate points to use toward purchases on tires and wheels at TreadZone.com. Eligible drivers can even earn bonus points by making purchases at TreadZone.com or by submitting national racing publications in which their car appears. The program also offers the potential to win free Toyo, BFGoodrich and Hankook Tires, plus Team Dynamics wheels, at the end of the season. SafeRacer, again the title sponsor of the SafeRacer SCCA Club Racing National Racing Series, will reward every SafeRacer National Racing Series Champion with a $500 product certificate just for running the decals required by the GCR.

Summit Racing Equipment will post in eight National classes in 2011, matching its 2010 program. The performance parts retailer is offering $125 for a race win, $75 for a runner-up finish and $50 for a third-place finish to eligible drivers.
