3 March 2003: The Washington DC Region of the Sports Car Club of America released the initial entry list for the 5th Annual Kumho Tires 12 Hours at the Point today. Sixty-nine entrants have submitted their intent for the May 30-31, 2003 event. Only the first fifty-five have been accepted and fourteen have been "wait-listed." This is the fifth consecutive year that the Region has received more intents than the fifty-five cars that SCCA will allow to start the event. It is expected that some of the entrants will withdraw, making room for the wait-listed entrants to get into the race.

At this time, the entry comes from a wide geographic distribution. Current entrants come from nineteen states including Minnesota, Illinois, Wisconsin, Georgia, Florida and Arkansas. The majority of entrants are from the Middle Atlantic Region of the United States. Twenty-three regions from the SCCA are represented.

The entrant of last year's overall champion, and overall distance-covered record holder, Elizabeth Harrison, has again entered a car. Robert Roth of Wisconsin, holding four-consecutive Kumho Tires 12 Hours at the Point ITA victories, is returning in the hopes of a fifth victory. John Legg, the 2002 ITS victor and 1999 overall winner, is also returning for 2003. While the balance appears to lean towards seasoned veterans of the Kumho Tires 12 Hours at the Point, it appears that a good percentage of the entrants will be making their first start.

The Kumho Tires 12 Hours at the Point is open to spectators and will take place rain-or-shine. For more information, please see www.12hoursatthepoint.org
