F1000 CHAMPIONSHIP EXTENDED
Year-long SCCA National Formula B competition to feature trophies and a prize fund

GREEN BAY, WIS. (January 5, 2010) - Formula 1000, designated Formula B (FB) by the SCCA, was introduced to the national racing scene in 2007 and has since continued to grow and garner attention from many racers, including several national champions. Building on the success and momentum from last year's national championship, the F1000 National Championship presented by George Dean Racing Engines and Taylor Race Engines returns for 2010, with both title sponsors continuing their support for the entire season.

Like last year, the season-long championship will feature all registered FB drivers battling for top honors in SCCA National races across the USA. Utilizing the traditional SCCA National points system (12, 9, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1), F1000 Championship competitors will accrue points for race finishes in all National races. In addition to the standard points being awarded, program participants will be awarded two bonus points for each FB entrant that finishes the weekend behind them. With the SCCA announcing earlier that all national classes will be included at the Runoffs, further championship points will be available at Road America in September as part of the SCCA Finale, where drivers can earn double points for a top-nine finish. Utilizing this points format, each driver's best six results plus the Runoffs will be used to calculate the inaugural series champion.

In addition to the series title, F1000 National Championship competitors will have the opportunity to win the RillTech Racing Formula B Super Sweep Prize, which will be awarded to a driver that wins his/her SCCA Divisional title, one of nine key National events, a Runoffs class win and a class win in the newly formulated SCCA nationwide point structure. Thanks to backing from George Dean Racing Engines, Taylor Race Engineering, Williams Race Development, and Rilltech Racing, F1000 National Championship competitors will not only be fighting for class bragging rights, but also an impressive series prize fund. In addition to a season-ending purse being paid out, several other prizes and programs are to be to be announced shortly. Competitors will also receive an F1000 decal and a commemorative championship t-shirt.

In order to be part of the 2010 F1000 National Championship Presented by George Dean Racing Engines and Taylor Race Engineering, drivers need to register by contacting series organizer Mike Beauchamp via gyrodynamics@new.rr.com or by visiting www.formula1000.com. In conjunction with the recently announced West Coast F1000 Pro Series, all drivers that register for the National Series are automatically registered for the West Coast Pro Series, allowing those drivers to win prizes in both series concurrently.

About F1000 National Championship:
Formed in 2009, the F1000 National Championship Presented by George Dean Racing Engines and Taylor Race Engineering is a year-long SCCA Club Racing National competition. The series features high-performance tube-frame Formula 1000 race cars that are powered by 1000cc motorcycle engines. One of the newest SCCA National classes, it consists of both purpose-built cars and Formula Continental conversions cars, with top speeds in excess of 1530 mph.
