"ArmsUp Motorsports Claims Victory at the SCCA Fall Sprints Regional"

SOUTH BELOIT, Wis. -- Jim Victor scored his second victory of the season on Sunday at Blackhawk Farms in South Beloit, Illinois. The ArmsUp Motorsports driver put in a dominating performance leading every lap en route to the SCCA Fall Sprints Formula Continental race win. Victor's win was part of a 1-2 ArmsUp sweep as Rick Balsley came home second from seventh place on the grid with a fine drive. Revere Greist capped off the weekend by taking the Formula Continental pole on Saturday in what was the final event of the 2008 season for ArmsUp Motorsports.

ArmsUp Motorsports had four drivers set to compete for 2008's final race weekend. Revere Greist, John Greist, Jim Victor and Rick Balsley, took to the track Saturday morning for the first and only practice session before qualifying. John Greist and Balsley had not seen the two-mile Blackhawk circuit until the morning practice session and both drivers had their work cut out for them.

Saturday afternoon's qualifying would prove a successful endeavor for the ArmsUp team with Revere Greist scoring the FC pole. Jim Victor put in a solid run to put his number seven Smith Barney car just behind his teammate on the grid. Rick Balsley improved greatly from the practice session as he continued to come to grips with the Van Diemen to run seventh. John Greist struggled in qualifying after a mechanical gremlin cut his practice short, leaving John ninth in the field of 14 cars.

With Revere Greist forced to skip Sunday's race due to prior commitments, Jim Victor inherited the pole and never looked back when the green-flag dropped. Jumping out to a couple of second lead, Victor had the race in hand half way through the 24-lap event. Getting a solid start in the midfield, Balsley ran sixth to the halfway point pressuring the fifth place car as they both dealt with lapped traffic. John Greist drove conservatively as he worked his way through slower traffic during the first three quarters of the race.

At lap 18 of the 24 lap affair the caution flag flew for a stalled car erasing Victor's lead. During the caution attrition began to take its toll with FC cars dropping out which allowed Balsley to assume the second position during the caution. John Greist's weekend took a turn for the better as he advanced positions during the caution despite stalling his car when the field came to a stop on the track for the safety team to move the stalled car.

When the race resumed Victor was able to pick up right where he left off, storming away from the field to take the checkered flag. Balsley and Greist were both able to keep their noses clean of lapped traffic to finish second and fifth respectively completing a successful weekend for ArmsUp Motorsports.

"This is a testament to this ArmsUp Motorsports team," an excited Jim Victor said after the race. "Even though it was the last race of the season, these guys never stopped trying to improve the car. That's what makes this team so great; they keep working to make the car better all the time. So I really want to thank them for a fantastic season."

ArmsUp Motorsports now enters the winter break. The team will return to the Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin workshop to prepare for the 2009 season. A lot of plans are in the works for the team's return to the SCCA National Championship Runoffs which will be held for the first time at their home track of Road America.
