"ArmsUp Motorsports Just Misses Podium in Mid Ohio"
LEXINGTON, Ohio. -- The ArmsUp Motorsports team traveled to the famed Mid Ohio Sports Car Course last weekend with driver Jim Victor. For the third time this season rain would play a large role in how the weekend unfolded. On a half wet half dry track Jim Victor would finish fourth after starting the race on slick tires.
The ArmsUp Motorsports team arrived at the circuit on Friday to find a full wet track. Victor spent most of the day finding grip in the wet at the newly repaved Mid Ohio track. In Saturday's qualifying session Victor would cross the timing light third behind former National Champion Dave Weitzenhof and defending National Champion Niki Coello.
In the race, Victor would slip to fourth at the start trying to find grip with slick tires on a drying race track. As the race went on, the track began to dry more and more. With the drying track the Smith Barney backed Victor was running down third place toward the end of the eighteen lap race. A late spin however cost Victor his shot at carrying his string of National top three finishes to four in a row. Victor was able to recover from his spin and finish the race in fourth.
"This was a decent weekend," stated team manager Brent Borland. "We had a good car its just unfortunate the weather hasn't cooperated with us this year that much. I think that we still have a lot of momentum going into the June Sprints in a month and I'm really looking forward to that event."
ArmsUp Motorsports next event will be on home soil for the June 17,18 Double Regional at Road America. The weekend will see the season debut of the ArmsUp Formula Atlantic cars with drivers J.M. Paredes, former FA National Champ Mike Biangardi, and last years June Sprints winner Chris Menninga. Under the Formula Continental tent Walter Volrath, and John Dickman will take to the track for the first time this season and Jim Victor will return to his seat to prepare for the June Sprints.
