Jim Victor Claims First SCCA National Victory of the Season for ArmsUp Motorsports

ELKHART LAKE, Wis. -- ArmsUp Motorsports driver Jim Victor claimed his first SCCA National victory of the season this weekend's Cat National at Road America. Victor, who celebrated his birthday on race day, led every lap after starting third on the grid in the Formula Continental race. J.M. Paredes would claim a second podium finish for ArmsUp Motorsports during the weekend running third in Formula Atlantic.

The weekend started off very strong for ArmsUp Motorsports with Kirk Kindsfater taking his first pole of the season in Formula Continental. Victor would start third with John Dickmann seventh after Saturday's two qualifying sessions for the FC division. Walter Vollrath would start shotgun on the field after missing qualifying to coach his daughters' softball team in a tournament.

At the start of the combined Formula Atlantic and Formula Continental race Kindsfater would lose his pole position on the first lap after getting held up by a back-marker Formula Atlantic car. Victor would take full advantage of the start to lead lap one and he would not look back. After dropping back to third at the start Kindsfater was able to steadily make up ground on second place coming within striking distance on the last lap. Unfortunately he would be forced into the gravel trap on the last lap negating a strong drive. Dickmann would also be the victim of a slow lane at the start and spend most of the event in catch-up mode racing back to his starting position of seventh. Coming from the back, Walter Vollrath would race clean to take an eighth place finish, his first national top-10 of the season.

ArmsUp Motorsports Formula Atlantic driver J.M. Paredes drove a great race, waging a race long battle with the second place car in Formula Atlantic. At the end Paredes put his Swift .014 on the final step of the podium crossing the line just out of second. Paredes has been having a great summer so far setting personal best laps in his last four trips to Road America.

"I want to congratulate Jim on getting his first victory of the year on his birthday. He has been working hard this year and it paid off this weekend," ArmsUp owner Gregg Borland stated after the weekend. "The whole team did a great job all weekend and our results showed that."

ArmsUp Motorsports will return to Road America next Monday with three drivers testing at the four mile circuit. Regular drivers J.M. Paredes and Walter Vollrath will be joined by Skip Barber Race Series veteran Revere Greist.
