For Downers Grove, Illinois racer, Cole Bosanoz, successful would be an understatement to sum up his first SCCA races. The 21 year old made great strides May 29-31 at the 2009 Susie Bonneau Milwaukee Region SCCA Double Regional at Road America. A pole position and two second place finishes in the competitive FE class were awarded to Cole for his weekend efforts.

The Friday test day went extremely well for the Temco Machinery/Global Emergency Products driver. Cole spent the day working with Comprep's Dennis Eade, who is a legend in his own right working with such drivers as Jacques Villeneuve. The two worked on the setup of the 2007 Van Diemen Formula Enterprises car over the expansive 4.0 mile Road America circuit. By the end of the day, Cole was comfortable in the car and on pace with the leaders. "Dennis (Eade) was an amazing resource all weekend. He kept me focused on the task at hand and confident in my ability to drive the car at the limit. His help this weekend was priceless," Cole said.

Sunny Saturday skies quickly turned to rain clouds just before Cole's first qualifying session. Dennis and Cole made the decision to be first on grid for the session, a move that would pay off. "We knew rain was coming and that we had to put in a good lap early on," said Cole. "It really started raining hard towards the backside of the course on my first flyer, but I just kept telling myself to finish the lap." The result, Cole put the No. 9 Temco/Global Mazda FE first overall in the group and class against much faster competition from Atlantics and Formula Continentals.

The first ten-lap race saw Cole battle with team-mate Steve Stadel. The two swapped the lead three times on the first 4-mile lap. Cole settled in to a consistent race pace behind the wily veteran Stadel. "I knew if I kept pace with Steve, we would be okay because he doesn't make mistakes at Road America." On lap six, Cole made a rookie mistake of his own, dropping a wheel at the entry of the fast turn-14 sending him off course. Cole regained his composure to finish second on the day.

Sunday's racing action would again prove successful. Working on a new setup with the car, Cole had trouble finding a clean lap in qualifying. Still, Cole managed a second starting spot in class. As the green flew for race two, Cole would get shuffled to third in class. Using the draft to his advantage, he regained second spot on the run to turn-one. Cole managed to turn several consistent laps in a row while running a mistake free second race to his second podium finish of the weekend.

Cole now looks to find the necessary funding to run in the 54th annual Chicago Region June Sprints, the crown jewel on the amateur racing calendar. Cole plans to take the track again for the One Formula Racing outfit.

Cole would like to thank; Tom and Pam Keiser, Temco Machinery and Global Emergency Products, One Formula Racing, Comprep and Datasport for this weekend's success.

Cole Bosanoz comes from an SCCA family with over 30 years of participation in the club. Cole has spent 10 years building his racing career through the advent of his participation in kart racing. With countless race wins in karting and multiple championships he has begun his climb up the motorsports ladder. Cole is supported by his extensive network of sponsors including; Temco Machinery, Global Emergency Products, Krahl Construction, The Motorsport Collector, Sideline Sports Photography, Razor Image, Impact Race Products and Signatures of Chicago.
