Robinson Motor Sports Spec Racer Wins Longest Night 24-Hour Race

Palm Beach Gardens, Florida - December 30, 2001 - Sports Car Club of America's annual Longest Night 24-Hour race was won by Robinson Motor Sports Spec Racer Ford. Driven by Larry Baisden, Andy Carlino, Mark Eaton, Rodney Thompson and Bill Weston, the car covered 1707 miles at Moroso Motorsports Park in Florida. They bested the second place car, another Spec Racer, by 23 laps.

Robinson, who entered the race four previous years, said, "We've worked so hard for this. I was lucky enough to find a super crew and drivers that did an excellent job. My crew chief, Mark Eaton, who also drove at night, prepared the car perfectly. These are cars designed for 30 minute sprint races and all we do is slap lights on them and thrash them for 24 hours."

Ray LaRue, driver of the second place LaRue Motorsports Spec Racer, said, "The Robinson guys were so fast on pit stops." He added he felt they had a strong challenge for Robinson until an extended stop for repairs.

Third place was won by Van Cleef Racing's Toyota Supra, who bested the next car in class, another Supra, by 14 laps. <pre> <pre> Final results:
