Illinois Drivers to Compete in National Race Elkhart Lake, Wisc., June 14, 2004

More than 400 competitors from 28 states, including 50 from Illinois and the Bahamas and Canada will compete in the Kohler/SCCA Chicago Region June Sprints® at Road America, June 17-20. The June Sprints race weekend marks the first step in winning the Sports Car Club of America's (SCCA) Triple Crown of Racing. The prestigious race gives drivers in all of the race classes an opportunity to compete against the best drivers in the U.S. early in the season.

Tickets are available online, www.roadamerica.com, by phone, 1.800.365.7223 or at the gates, which open at 7 a.m. each day. Tickets, which include free parking and paddock access, are $10 Thursday, $15 Friday, $20 Saturday and $25 Sunday. Children 12 and under are free.

Off-the-track activities include behind-the-scenes tours, called Up Close and Personal, organized by SCCA's Chicago Region, on-track touring and autograph sessions. Cars will be on track beginning at 8 a.m. each day. Free autograph sessions will be held during the lunch hours on Saturday and Sunday. The Road America Karting Club (RAKC) will be on the Briggs & Stratton Motorplex, which is included with the event ticket. Road America offers camping available in the Carousel Campground for tents and pop-ups and around the track for self-contained motorhomes. Road America hosted its first race in 1955.
