Inland Empire Auto Show Appearance

Ontario, CA The public is invited to meet champion road racing driver Madalynne Crowe during the 2004 Inland Empire Auto Show at the Ontario Convention Center February 25 through 29. Ms. Crowe, who drives Mazda RX-7 based Pro-7 and Spec GT-2 race cars, will be available daily in the Show's Entrance Pavilion, along with a Spec GT-2 race car sponsored by 7s Only Racing, Circle Wheels, and Mazdaspeed Motorsports Development.

Madalynne, nicknamed "Sharkie", began racing after completing SCCA Super School in October 2002. In her first season, she amassed an impressive record of 9 podiums and 21 top-10 finishes in 23 starts (2 mechanical DNFs). Competing in races sanctioned by both SCCA's California Sports Car Club and the National Auto Sport Association (NASA Pro Racing), Madalynne reached the podium in each of the four race series' she entered during 2003.

In her most recent race, February 22, 2004 at Willow Springs International Raceway, Sharkie again reached the podium with a strong 2nd place finish in conditions that went from sunny and dry to freezing with heavy rain between the green and checkered flags.

The Spec GT-2 on display at the Auto Show is a purpose-built, tube frame race car running a peripheral-port Mazda 12-A motor with a Weber down-draft carburetor and custom headers. Many of the components come from first generation RX-7s, though the Spec GT-2 uses a Miata transmission. Designed by 7s Only Racing, the car is an outgrowth of the success and popularity of the Pro-7, a first generation RX-7 modified for racing. Both the Pro-7 and Spec GT-2 series are spec racing classes with rules designed to ensure that it is driver ability that is the key for winning. The Spec GT-2 offers a fast, fun and affordable way to go racing.

A "sister car", the #77 Spec GT-2, was entered in NASA's 25 Hours of Thunderhill in December 2003 by Mobicanics/7s Only Racing. Under the circumstances (a shunt ten hours into the race that required major repairs), the car performed extremely well. No tire changes were required, and the brakes and rotors still had life left at the end of the 25 hours. Ms. Crowe drove two shifts, including the 3-1/2 hour anchor leg, setting the team's fastest lap and bringing the car home to a 7th place class finish.

The Inland Empire Auto Show exhibit will also include race videos of Ms. Crowe and offer an opportunity for Show visitors to challenge a real race driver to a virtual race.
