From the Back to the Pack in Two Days

Lexington, OH (July 17, 2006) -- MB Racing returned to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course with high expectations, and as the weekend progressed, so did the team. Family and friends turned out from all over the Midwest to see them in action, and were rewarded with constant improvement at the natural terrain road course North of Columbus.

After qualifying 18th in the 21 car field Saturday morning on a track that was damp and starting to dry, Matt Brown working with Crew Chief Benny Folk moved the car up through the field finishing in a respectable 12th place and gained some much needed confidence for Sunday's second qualifying session and race.

"We started out running a qualifying lap of 1:50.223 on Saturday morning putting us 18th on the grid, which frankly we were not at all happy with, but then we ran 1:48.221 in the race. We talked about some corner exits and my line through "Madness," and that helped us qualify 13th with a 1:47.125 on Sunday morning," said Team Principal Matt Brown. On Sunday during a very hot afternoon race with air temperatures approaching the 100 degree mark, Brown brought the car under the checkered flag in 11th place, just outside of the team's goal of a top-10 finish.

"With significant input from Mike Amy of Dog Gone Racing prior to the race on Sunday, we ended up running a best lap of 1:46.552, improving our fastest lap time by over 3.5 seconds in just four track sessions. Attacking such a technical track for the first time in many years we came away feeling very happy with the efforts of everyone on the team," Brown stated enthusiastically.

"Matt drove two pretty solid races and kept the car on the track. This is more than a lot of drivers and cars can say given the track conditions: a flooded/wet track for the first race and a hot and gummy track for the second," added Crew Chief Benny Folk. "This weekend was a pretty good building block for the future."

It's back to the Mid-Atlantic for the MB Racing team's next round of action, scheduled at Summit Point Raceway on Labor Day weekend. See MB Racing on track and discover why they are the most professional team in the racing business.
