Mishael Abbott Doubles her Chances at June Sprints
Will Race in Both Formula Mazda and C Sports Racer Classes
INDIANAPOLIS (June 21, 2007) -- Mishael Abbott returns to Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) racing this weekend hoping to grab double wins at The 52nd Annual Piggly Wiggly June Sprints® National Road Racing Championships. Mishael will be racing in both Formula Mazda and C Sports Racer classes in the first leg of the prestigious Triple Crown of SCCA racing.
"I have really been looking forward to being back at Road America for the June Sprints," said Mishael Abbott. "This year I'll be driving both my cars at one of my all-time favorite tracks."
Mishael will be asking for some advice from her father, Paul, in hopes of garnering some of the same success he enjoyed when racing at Road America in the 1980's. Paul Abbott recorded at number of wins at Road America, including top finishes at the June Sprints competing in Formula Continental and C Sports Racer classes.
A second generation racer, Mishael is looking to make history at the June Sprints with double wins and at the same time secure Road America bragging rights from her father. She won the Chicago Indoor Racing Hard Charger Award for improving the most race positions at the 2004 June Sprints.
"Racing in both Formula Mazda and C Sports Racer classes will give me twice the seat time this weekend," Mishael said. "Our race groups are scheduled such that I won't be rushing out of one car and into the other. It will be a lot of fun!"
Open practice for all classes begins on Thursday with the Formula Mazda race on Saturday afternoon, June 23 and the C Sports Racer race on Sunday afternoon, June 24.
