GOODYEAR-EQUIPPED CARS WIN TWICE ON FIRST DAY OF RUNOFFS

ELKHART LAKE, Wisc. (Sept. 25, 2009) -- Goodyear-shod drivers won twice and took six podium finishes on the first day of the 2009 SCCA National Championship Runoffs at Road America.

Jim Dentici (Oconomowoc, Wisc.) led a Goodyear podium sweep in GT Lite and Mark Carpenter (Charlotte, N.C.) won in F Production. Dentici also won the SCCA Triple Crown, which goes to drivers won win their divisional championship, their class in the June Sprints and the Runoffs.

The Runoffs continue with nine national championship races Saturday and eight more on Sunday. Each race consists of 13 laps around the picturesque 4.0-mile, 14-turn road course.

Christopher Bovis, who finished second in the GT Lite race, said, "The Goodyear tires were unbelievable the whole race."

Dentici led every lap of his race, finishing ahead of Bovis and Robert Lentz. Lents finished .03 of a second ahead of Peter Shadowen.

Carpenter's victory was more dramatic. The lead changed frequently during the race, although there was only one official lead change, coming when Carpenter passed David Bryson going into turn one on the seventh lap and led at the start of the eighth lap. Unofficially, the lead changed hands 10 times among four drivers.

The other Goodyear-equipped podium finisher was Bart Wolf (Elkhart Lake, Wisc.), who finished a popular third place in Sport 2000.
