Will Turner And Toyo Tires Bring Home Another Trophy

WATKINS GLEN, NY - 07/10/2006 - Will Turner and Toyo Tires scored a victory yesterday in the SCCA National Club Race held at Watkins Glen International Raceway after starting from the pole.

Will Turner was driving the #96 Toyo Tires/Turner Motorsport BMW M3 in the SCCA T2 class. He qualified on the pole and led every lap to score his second victory of 2006. Afterwards, Turner was especially happy with this win:

Will Turner, #96 Toyo Tires/Turner Motorsport BMW M3:

"This was a great win for Toyo because it came at a track where tires can be a pivotal factor in the race. My Toyo RA-1 tires were just the rubber to have because they were stable and consistent right up to the end of the race. The other tire guys had to be very careful and conserve their tires while I was able to pick a pace and stick with it."

Turner and Toyo have teamed up for a very nice record in 2006: two wins and three second-place finishes. The Turner Motorsport team has worked hard at making the M3 a solid competitor in the SCCA T2 class where it races against a variety of cars such as the Subaru WRX STi, Nissan 350Z, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, and Chevrolet Camaro/Pontiac Firebird.

Turner praised the Toyo-TMS link for his strong showings this year:

"We're a perfect match. I know I can count on the Toyos to be put up the same lap times at the end of the race as in the early stages. I also have a car that is consistently fast. And that combination puts us near the front. We're not always the fastest car on the track but we're pretty evenly matched."

Will Turner is competing in the SCCA T2 class in preparation for the SCCA Runoffs Championship to be held in October at Heartland Park Raceway in Topeka, Kansas. Turner is a past champion in SCCA Club Racing and has been racing and tuning BMWs since 1991. Turner also competes in the Grand Am Cup series in a BMW 330i as well as manages the team's two BMW M3 Grand Am Cup racecars. Turner Motorsport is the country's leading tuner of BMW street and race cars. From an online catalog of nearly 5000 specialized parts, BMW owners and enthusiasts can tune and modify their cars for mild street-driven commuting or for track-only driver's education, club and professional racing.
