New Logo for SCCA Solo Unveiled, Program Drops "2" From Name

TOPEKA, Kan. (April 26, 2006) -- The Sports Car Club of America Solo Department has a new face, thanks to a sharp, redesigned department logo that for the first time in recent memory lacks any numerical signatures.

Unveiling the new moniker also cements the name change for the competition program as well, which has become "Solo" instead of "Solo 2."

"After the Solo I competition format became part of the SCCA Club Racing Time Trials program, it was determined that a separate name designation was no longer necessary," Vice President of Competition Programs Howard Duncan said. "The slight name change decision was made some time ago, and this great-looking new logo will help reinforce the transition."

The logo institutes a sleeker feel by utilizing an ultra-defined color contrast between a red SCCA logo, outlined in white, along with white "Sports Car Club of America Solo" wording beneath it on a black background. On the right side, the logo and accompanying text overlap a smooth silhouette of perhaps the most recognizable symbol in Solo - the orange pylon.

Together, the pieces form Solo's new identity, which began appearing at Solo events on a limited basis earlier this year.
