CENTENNIAL, Colo. (October 1, 2002)-- The Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) announced today that SPEED Channel, America's first and only television network dedicated to automobile and motorsports entertainment, has been named the official racing network of the SCCA.

SCCA programming on SPEED Channel includes complete coverage of the Valvoline Runoffs®, considered by many as the" Olympics" of road racing, SCCA ProRally® and SCCA Pro Racing's SPEED World Challenge® GT and Touring Car Championships, which have been sponsored by SPEED Channel since 1999.

"The SCCA has seen incredible growth in the last several years," said Steve Johnson, President and CEO of SCCA, Inc., and SCCA Pro Racing, Ltd."A great deal of that growth can be attributed to SPEED Channel exposing a new audience to the SCCA through our various racing series.

"Along with the exposure we've received, we're excited to launch new campaigns to promote SCCA, SPEED Channel and its partners to motorsports fans and automotive enthusiasts."

"Since launching SPEED Channel in February of this year, the goal of the network has been to bring more racing of every kind to the American motorsports fan," said SPEED Channel President Jim Liberatore."I think our efforts are being noticed and we appreciate the recognition given to those efforts by the SCCA."

The SCCA and SPEED Channel have enjoyed a television partnership since 1996 for the Trans-Am Series and World Challenge, with the Valvoline Runoffs, ProRally, U.S. F2000 and Pro Spec Racer series appearing on the network as well.
