Tony Rivera named SCCA Enterprises Technical Director

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (August 12, 2002) -- SCCA Enterprises, a for-profit subsidiary of the Sports Car Club of America, Inc., which produces the Spec Racer Ford, has named Tony Rivera its new Technical Director. Rivera replaces Ken Brown, who moves to the position of SCCA, Inc. Director of Technical Services September 2.

Rivera will oversee all technical issues on current and future SCCA Enterprises business, which includes the manufacturing, engine rebuilding/certification and parts distribution of the most popular "spec" racing car ever, the Spec Racer Ford.

"This is very exciting, as it gives me the opportunity to oversee a full, top-to-bottom production facility, and work with arguably the most popular race car ever produced," said Rivera, 28. "My experience with each facet of a race car, from chassis work to engine building and working with fabricators and suppliers, and my passion for SCCA racing makes this a perfect fit for both parties."

Rivera is the owner of TR Rotorsports Racing Engines, a Mazda rotary performance and race engine builder that also specializes in "spec" Mazda SCCA Club Racing cars such as the Spec RX-7 and Spec Miata. In addition to his 12 years of shop technician experience, Rivera is also an accomplished driver, having won seven divisional titles in the Rocky Mountain SCCA Division and has been picked by Sports Car Magazine to finish on the podium at the 2002 Valvoline Runoffs (E Production class) for the second-consecutive year.

"Tony brings a wealth of real-world experience and enthusiasm to SCCA Enterprises," said Jim Dickson, SCCA Enterprises President. "He'll be a good fit with both the current Spec Racer project as well as some new things that we have on the horizon."

Rivera will start the position on a full-time basis September 23, following the Valvoline Runoffs, and will work alongside Brown part-time until that point. Rivera, his wife Annemarie and their daughter live in Littleton, Colo.

Also joining the SCCA Enterprises staff is Jerry Oleson, who takes over as Parts Manager. Oleson joins Enterprises with 20 years of experience in the automotive parts business. Like Rivera, Oleson is a veteran SCCA Club Racer, currently competing in the H Production class.
