DAVY JONES READY TO TAKE ON THE DESERT AT THE BAJA 1000
Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico - November 17th, 2010 - Davy Jones has completed his pre-runs, he took part in the inaugural parade, and went through all the mandatory debriefs for the 43rd Annual Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 which he will be a part of for the first time in his career.
The celebrated American driver is now ready to add another milestone to his resume by taking the green flag for the 1061.69-mile desert classic in Ensenada, Baja California where he will drive the #BC1 Wide Open Baja Baja Challenge buggy. The team will be the first one in its class to start the race Thursday morning when Jones and Marco Guerrero will co-drive for the first stint of the race, they will then hand over the controls to Roberto Guerrero and Sebastian Saavedra who will take care of the night driving duties, and finally Mike Cassling and Mike Mitten will drive the #BC1 buggy to the finish line in La Paz.
Davy Jones
"This is quite an event; you can definitely see why it has so much
history and so much prestige. What a festival, the parade, the people,
the vendors, everyone is going crazy just to touch the cars and get
souvenirs. Yesterday we got to do our pre-running and then today we
spent our time learning about the car, the different procedures that we
have to be aware of, the GPS, and everything that you should and
shouldn't do. Now we are getting ready to get the race started.
We have a great team and I think we have a very good shot at winning our
category, but it's a very long race and we all know that it can be
very tough and demanding, so we need to just stay focused and stay out of
trouble and bring it home."
