Pistol Pete adds Slime for his run at the Baja 1000
Phoenix, AZ (November 10, 2009) - Pistol Pete Sohren went to Las Vegas to promote his Baja Racing Adventures with a display at the 2009 SEMA show and then without warning, hit the jackpot by landing a title sponsorship from Slime, the #1 tire sealant in the world, for his Trophy Truck for the upcoming Tecate SCORE Baja 1000. In the past, Sohren has partnered with Slime as an associate, but drawing the number one starting position for the sport's biggest race really set the table when creating marketing opportunities.
"I believe the relationship we have built with Slime over the years, and our team's commitment to Baja solidified our partnership," noted the outspoken Pete Sohren. "Starting first I know I'll run into my share of Baja Booby traps, Sometimes the local fans will pile dirt, garbage, and old wooden pallets across the course. Many times there are nails in the wood, and that causes punctures. I know my Maxxis Tires can handle just about any type of abuse, but Slime is a great insurance policy when running over nails. Now its my job to start first and finish first in the Slime Maxxis Tire Ford F-150 Trophy Truck."
Speaking of commitment, Sohren had little time to reflect on the events of the past few days, as he loaded up his prerunner at the end of Thursday's activities at SEMA and headed for Baja to begin prerunning for the forty second edition of the Baja 1000.
As Pistol Pete stated, he will also be making the 1000-kilometer run on Maxxis Tires. Maxxis Tires offer the Ford powered Trophy Truck unrelenting traction and unmatched durability. New for the #2 Trophy Truck is a new experimental Tubeworks transmission designed to improve the truck's overall performance.
The Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 begins Thursday, November 19 with Technical Inspection and the competitor's parade through Contingency Row. The race gets underway on Friday, November 20, as Pistol Pete is first off the line at 10:30am.
