Darren Law to Compete in SCORE Baja 1000

(Phoenix, Arizona) Endurance road racing standout Darren Law of Phoenix, Arizona will be trying his hand at another form of endurance racing, as he announced today that he will be joining Kelly Moss team owners Dave and Jeff Stone in a Baja Challenge class buggy for this year's SCORE sanctioned Baja 1000 off road racing event November 17th. The Baja 1000 has been an annual event since 1967 that draws some of the world's finest off road racers and their machines to endure the 1000 mile high speed trek through the desert sands and rocky mountain passes of the Baja Peninsula.

Darren, who has just completed a grueling endurance racing season of his own having competed in three different classes of cars spanning from the Rolex 24 Hour at Daytona International Speedway in January all the way through this past weekend's American Le Mans Series action at the challenging Laguna Seca Raceway is ready for the formidable off road challenge. Law, who is avid about maintaining his physical conditioning, has worked with the Stones for several years in their GT based race cars, and found the opportunity to test his endurance in off road race cars with the Baja event intriguing. Darren won't be going into the race blindly however as he will have a chance, along with many of the other racers involved in the yearly event, to pre-run the course just prior to the race itself.

Law will be piloting a Baja Challenge buggy for a stint in the 1,000 mile event, and although the 250 hp buggy is designed for a decidedly different environment than the Rolex Series 500 hp Prototype race cars that Darren is used to, Law looks forward to the challenge of a new machine. The Baja Challenge machines are popular choices for the Baja 1,000 event, and are used by racers from around the world.

"I really want to thank Dave and Jeff (Stone) for the opportunity to do this," remarked Law. "I'm sure its going to be a real challenge to adapt to the environment and I'm hoping that all the quadding I do in the Arizona desert to help stay in shape will give me at least a little bit of useful experience for this race. I also want to thank Colin at CDOC who has been really helpful in getting me the equipment I'll need for the race. He's been there before, and knows what it takes to succeed."
