Pflueger Leaping to Get to Laughlin

Murrieta, Calif. (January 9, 2006) - Alan Pflueger and his Monster Energy/Pflueger Racing Team can't wait for the flag to drop Saturday, Jan. 20, in Laughlin, Nev., signaling the start of the 2007 SCORE off-road season. The team, which finished third in the 2006 Trophy Truck final points standings, has shown steady improvement in its first three seasons in the elite Trophy Truck class, but Pflueger thinks that 2007 is the year to win it all.

"I feel we have all the pieces in place," Pflueger, driver of the No. 28 Chevrolet Silverado, said. "We have the team, the backing, the equipment and the drive. This team is extremely excited and ready to race. We didn't slow down at all over the holidays. We are looking for a strong start in Laughlin to build momentum for 2007. There are only five points races throughout the year, so every race is extremely important."

The SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge, the first event of the six-race 2007 SCORE Desert Series, will be held Saturday, January 20 and Sunday, January 21 in Laughlin, Nev., U.S.A. The race will be run over a six-mile looped course with Trophy-Trucks making six loops. More than 250 racers are scheduled to compete, including 31 in the elite Trophy-Truck division. Thirty thousand (30,000) spectators are expected to attend the race.

"Laughlin will be tough, as usual," Pflueger said. "That's the way we like it. The tougher the better. Being a six-mile loop and spread out over two days makes it more difficult, too. Not only do you have to battle the course, but you also have to battle the dust and traffic. It is constant close racing conditions and can wear you down mentally."

Pflueger, referred to by his enormous fan base as Fearless Pflueger and the Flyin' Hawaiian, is entering his fourth full season in off-road's elite Trophy Truck division and is one of SCORE International Off-Road Racing's rising stars. During his first full year of racing in 2002, Pflueger won the Primm 300 and the famous Baja 1000 on the Protruck series, finishing second in points and earning Rookie of the Year honors. He followed up his first year in racing by winning the Protruck Championship in 2003 with wins at the San Felipe 250, the Baja 500 and the Primm 300.

Pflueger moved to the elite Trophy Class in 2004, winning the Baja 500 and the Primm 300. He finished 4th in the 2005 Primm 300 and was runner-up in the Baja 1000. Pflueger also scored runner-up finishes in 2006 in the Baja 500 and the Terrible's Cup II non-points event.
