G&R Racing's #39 Takes Top Spot at Laughlin Leap

Mesa, Arizona (January 23, 2007) Facing a strong field of 30 Trophy Truck racers, the 2006 SCORE Rookie of the Year, stepped into the SCORE Laughlin "War Zone" and mashed the pedal of the G&R Racing #38 Geiser Brothers built Trophy Truck, capturing 2nd place among the nation's top off road racers.

"Rick Geiser gave me a workhorse of a truck for this race and I just let it fly," explained a smiling Garron Cadiente.

"Starting in the fourth row behind Baldwin, Pflueger, Post and others was tough. Those guys were really fast and the dust was thick. It takes a special truck to just hold it wide open like we had to today, but with the setup we had on our truck, it was not a problem."

The 2007 SCORE Desert Series entertained a full-house of fans and racers alike on Saturday, all who came to watch the Trojan Horses of the desert. SCORE Trophy Trucks are the marquee class in desert racing and feature advanced technology with 800 horsepower power plants matched to an unlimited production truck. SCORE Officials reported a 3-day record crowd of 40,000 enthusiastic fans on hand for this event. Sunday's cold and windy weather deterred many fans from the race. However, Sunday's race action between SCORE Trophy Trucks was heated from the start.

After Friday's 4-hour prerun session followed by two-days of racing, the 6-mile race course featured bumps that literally swallowed some trucks. The soft sand conditions didn't help as the bumps grew through the weekend. A huge field of 226 race teams plied the race course in various classes creating the treacherous course conditions.

"Racing for a championship, we set our goals at finishing in the top three this weekend. We succeeded, there's still a long way to go. B.J. is fast, but we're coming after him and the championship trophy this season," commented a grinning Cadiente.

The race weekend was destined to be positive after Ron Whitton/Jeff Geiser captivated the Thursday night crowd with a victory at the Laughlin Leap. Driving the #39 yellow and red trophy truck off the Laughlin Leap, amid the flash of the paparazzi, G&R Racing set the stage for a winning weekend.

Garron Cadiente doubled up on the fun when he flew his #38 Trophy Truck to the podium claiming second in the Laughlin Leap behind his teammates.

Garron remarked, "Our crew chief, Mike 'Mad Dog' Williams has been working on a special groove for our BFGoodrich Baja T/A KR tires for a few weeks. He worked closely with the tire gurus at BFG and together they got the recipe for 'hookup' absolutely perfect. Our crew continues to perform and we couldn't do this without them."
