Big Diamond set for 410 Sprints on July 2 in $177,000 PA Speedweek Series.

Minersville, PA -June 20- Big Diamond will run the third race of the 2002 Pennsylvania Sprint Speedweek sponsored by Carquest Auto Parts on Tuesday night, July 2, starting at 7:30 PM. The winner of the 30-lap main will earn $4,000 and this year's purse has been raised for cars finishing fourth through tenth from last year's payoff. Also this year's Speedweek Carquest Auto Parts Point Fund and track purses will total $177,000 with eight races in nine days.

The Middleswarth Chip Company will once again provide its famous chips to the fans during the Speedweek event at Big Diamond and Dave Middleswarth and Jeff Goff are also planning something special. Middleswarth Chips are also represented on the track. The #7 Middleswarth Chip sprinter of Keith Kauffman captured last year's Big Diamond Speedweek win. He will be back to defend and Dave and Jeff look to double their chances of repeating at Kauffman's understudy, Todd Hestor, will bring the #7m Middleswarth BBQ Chip car to Big Diamond for the first time.

Up until last season's win by Kauffman, the red and white Apple Motorsports #12 sprint car team was undefeated at Big Diamond with wins going to Fred Rahmer. Greg Hodnett and Tyler Walker. They look to get back on track with Greg Hodnett of Memphis, Tennessee, piloting the 12 with the guidance of crew chief Lee Stauffer. Hodnett has been dominant recently in Pennsylvania and a swept the World of Outlaw weekend at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord, NC over the Memorial Day weekend.

The likes of Fred Rahmer, Lance Dewease, Don Kreitz, Cris Eash, Billy Pauch, Doug Esh, Todd Gracey and Johnny Mackison, Jr. are expected to challenge for the feature win as well as for the Carquest Auto Parts Speedweek point fund.

The card will start at 7:30 with 410 sprint car time trials. Big Diamond's Sportsman Stocks will also be competing action under the sanction of the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge.

This year's PA Speedweek rotation is Lincoln Speedway, Grandview Speedway, Big Diamond Raceway, Silver Spring Speedway, Susquehanna Speedway, Williams Grove Speedway, Port Royal Speedway and Selinsgrove Speedway.
