MEMPHIS,TN (APRIL 22, 2003) -- A special Canadian qualifier for the $10,000-to-win Kele World Challenge will be held on April 25-26, 2003, during the O'Reilly World of Outlaws Series show at Knoxville Raceway. Canadians Adam West of Ontario, Jeff Hodgson of Alberta, Tony Menard and Toni Lutar of British Columbia are expected to race during the Canadian-themed weekend. Adam West, this year's Knoxville International Driver Development (KIDD) racer, competes with the Southern Ontario Sprints. Jeff Hodgson is a regular with the Northern Sprint Tour. Tony Menard joined the Northern Sprint Tour on 2000. Toni Lutar is the veteran of the four, running in last year's Kele World Challenge. Four Canadians racing on one night would be a new track record.

Seventy-seven of the best sprint car drivers on the planet are already eligible to compete for $40,000 during this year's running of the Kele World Challenge, to be held on Friday, August 15, during the 43rd Annual Knoxville Nationals. The winged 410-cubic-inch sprint car drivers from Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States will run sixteen laps for the record purse. Kele World Challenge qualifying races were held at the Gold Cup Race of Champions in Chico, California, the Williams Grove National Open in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic in Warrnambool, Victoria (Australia) and the International Sprint Car Series in Western Springs, a suburb of Auckland (New Zealand).

Those eligible who wish to participate in the $40,000 Kele World Challenge must enter and compete in the 43rd Annual Knoxville Nationals, August 13-16.

In addition to the Canadian Kele World Challenge qualifier, the "Thunder Bay Invader" Lyn McIntosh returns to Knoxville Saturday to greet fans in the museum from 2 until 4pm. Russ Wanzuk's beautifully restored sprinters of Canadian champions McIntosh and Barry Kettering will also be on display.

The National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum will be open from 10am until 7pm on both Friday and Saturday, April 25-26. For more information you can contact the museum at 641-842-6176.

General admission ticket prices to the O'Reilly World of Outlaws Series and the Kele World Challenge qualifier are $24 Friday night and are $26 Saturday night. Reserved seat tickets are $26 for Friday night and $28 for Saturday night. To purchase tickets, call 641-842-5431.
