Central Washington State Fair Raceway will close out the 2001"Fun In The Sun" season with two nights of fast paced, action packed racing as the 2001 Central Washington State Fair gets underway in Yakima, WA this Friday and Saturday, September 28th & 29th.

Last year it was two nights of hot racing action on the closing weekend of the fair with the return of auto racing the fairgrounds after and absence of nearly 50 years. In 2001, State Fair Raceway will welcome fans to the three-eights clay oval with action packed racing featuring Sprints, Hobby Stocks and Modifieds to help open another great Central Washington State Fair.

With racing at all of the other Northwest dirt tracks finished for the 2001 season, State Fair Raceway is the only game in town for drivers and crews that want to get in 'just one more race' before calling it a season.

Several drivers at the final hy-per-lube Northern Sprint Tour race were expressing their intent to compete at State Fair and a field of thirty or more sprint cars could easily be in attendance. Drivers like Jayme Barnes, Shawna Wilskey, Chad Hillier, Rick Fauver, Jeremy Cooper, Barry Martinez, Jay Cole, John Tharp, the Harkness brothers, Jason Solwold, Jeff Thompson and Jim Cress will be putting the best sprints in the northwest on the fast clay oval. Also expected are some of the top running Sportsman Sprints from Skagit Speedway.

The popular Hobby Stock class featuring local drivers Chris Jeffery, Dwayne Nunley, Harold Emmons, and James Adams of Yakima, Harold Emmons of Selah and others will be joined by Grays Harbor Raceway Park hotshoes like Rick Milbourn, Brad Justice, Chris Asche, Jack Parshall and Wes Valentine.

Some of the Modified drivers from the Grays Harbor area that may well show up for the last program of the year include Craig Moore, Leroy Lawhead, Scott Miller, Kevin Beerbower, Randy Ward and Josh and Leroy Muller.

For a great day and evening of entertainment, excitement and fast paced racing, Central Washington State Fair and Raceway in Yakima, WA are the place to be this weekend.

Reserved seating is $5 with racing action scheduled to get underway at 7 pm. For more information contact the fairgrounds at 509-248-7160.
