GIBSONTON, FL - Sprint car driver Kenny Adams pocketed over $2,000 Saturday night at East Bay Raceway as he topped the first-ever East Bay Hot Shoe Challenge. Adams then garnered a runner-up spot in the 25-lap sprint feature behind Johnny Gilbertson, the youngster who has won two of the last three feature events at East Bay. Defending champion Gene Lasker took third in the Hot Shoe race behind Sport Allen and third in the main. Allen and Joe Melnick rounded out the top five in the feature while Roland Johnson and Paulie Milum completed the top five in the Hot Shoe 5-lap challenge. Keith Nosbisch nosed out his younger brother Jack Jr. to win the 25-lap late model feature. A five car race for third place saw Dash of Cash winner Donnie Tanner grab that spot ahead of Ken Nosbisch and David Schmauss. Doubling up for one of his best money winning nights, limited late model defending champion Roger Crouse won the Dash for Cash and the feature in that division. A multi-car race saw Forrest Gough nose out Danny Bowman, Tim Gay and Johnny Parker to grab runner-up honors. Second generation driver Brian Smith won his first-ever career feature as he topped a full field of mini-stocks. Rick Partridge, Scotty Williams, William Hampton and Gough rounded out the top five. In the street stock feature Paul Davis nosed out Jerry Lape, Danny Paris, Jr., Bill Surratt and Rick Rutledge. Chris Hoffman won the demolition derby over Brian Dalton and Robert Kissam.
